Hello Reader,
I first want to say this:
I don't think having a 9-5 is 'wrong'.
In fact for my sales people, executives, and other 'intrapreneurial' people reading this...
...you have my full support.
Why?
Because you control the amount of money you make, even with a 'job'.
You're like an entrepreneur inside of an existing company.
That is why it's called 'intrapreneurial'.
Now for everyone else, it's not that I don't support you - I do - only I think we should control the amount of money we make.
Speaking from experience I started in the legal workforce by age 15 at $8 / hour.
By age 19 my commission income equaled $30+ / hour.
By age 23 my business income equaled $130+ / hour.
As you can see the opportunity was awesome when I stopped working for an hourly wage.
But I digress, let's jump into what I intended to talk about today:
My #1 regret after quitting my 9-5 six years ago.
When I became self-employed and started my 2nd business in real estate I did one thing right.
I chose to surround myself with some very successful people.
I remember walking into a meeting with other real estate agents and seeing that one of my peers made $80,000 last month.
"Holy shit, that is almost what I made last year."
It immediately made me realize what was possible in this new business.
Within 60 days I was earning $10,000+ per month...
...up from the $6k average I had been earning at my 9-5 sales job.
It's easy to make $10k per month when people around you are making that or more every week.
So my biggest regret wasn't the people I surrounded myself with...
...and I'd recommend you ask yourself if the people you surround yourself with raise the bar like mine did.
If not... that needs to change.
Secondly, I did another thing right.
I chose to get training from some very successful people.
The brokerage I hung my license with was incredible for training (shout out to Keller Williams).
I very quickly learned the 'recipe' to building a successful real estate business.
Within one year of being a real estate agent I found myself in the top 20% of agents in my area.
So my biggest regret wasn't the training I was receiving to be successful in my career...
...and I'd recommend you ask yourself if you are receiving the right training to help you succeed in your business / career.
If not... that needs to change.
So you're probably wondering:
"Chris, dude what was your #1 regret after quitting your 9-5 six years ago?"
Alright I'll get to the point.
My #1 regret after quitting my 9-5 six years ago was this:
Not hiring a 1-on-1 mentor sooner...
...someone who would hold me accountable and personally guide me...
...someone to help me overcome my constant self-sabotage...
...someone to help me reprogram my limiting mindset...
...and hold my hand as I built my business.
Someone who had been where I was, and ended up where I wanted to be.
Someone that had already figured out the path I am walking, and made a step-by-step guide for me to follow.
Why?
Look, I was surrounded by people I could ask for help...
...and they motivated me to be, do, and have more.
But I was mostly on my own.
I learned the hard way that trying to do it all on my own was a fools errand.
It's the slow, painful, and inconsistent way to do things.
Here's another example.
I got into bodybuilding at age 15-16.
By age 20 I thought I had it all figured out...
...but my results said different.
I see this all the time with clients.
They feel like they are good on their own...
...until we look at their results...
...and they realize they should've gotten help a long time ago.
So I decided to hire a bodybuilding coach.
I quickly realized that all those years I was spinning my wheels, and didn't know what I was doing.
My coach gave me a plan to follow, encouraged me each week, and painted a clear picture of what was possible for me.
I made more progress in the next 8 months than I had in the previous 5 years.
The results don't lie.
So yeah...
...my #1 regret is not hiring a 1-on-1 mentor sooner.
I could've made $5 million by age 25, instead of only $1 million.
I could've avoided years of pain and suffering as a result of my self-sabotage.
I could've, should've, would've...
...but didn't.
Now I know better and have hired people that are where I want to be.
One is earning $850,000 per month and has millions of followers.
One is earning $2.5m per year with only 60k followers.
They clearly knew something I didn't...
...and now that I am following their guidance...
...my business and brand are growing.
Look I'm not even recommending you hire me lol...
...I am selective on who I work with and am not everyones cup of tea...
...but what I am recommending is you hire someone.
Maybe it's a fitness mentor like my bodybuilding coach was.
Maybe it's a business mentor like my two mentors are for me.
Maybe it's a mindset or money teacher like Bob Proctor has been for me.
Where are you not getting the results you want?
That's where to start.
Enjoy your week.
I'm rooting for you my friend,
Chris
